Probe-electrode with the porous head for electric cardiostimulation
The probe-electrode with the porous head is designed for a continuous electric stimulation of cardioactivity. The probe is a section of the conductive wire spiral 2 coated in silicon insulation and equipped from one end with the porous contact head 1 with fixing elements and from the other end with the plug 3 to connect with the electric cardiostimulator. The porous contact head is made in the form of semisphere 2-2,5 mm in diameter from the spherical titanium powder ÂÒ1-00 complying in biocompatibility and chemical composition with ISO 5832/11 è ASTM F67-89 and provides for direct transmission of the electric impulses to the stimulated region of the heart muscle. The fixing elements are designed for the preparatory setting of the contact head for the required position. Into the conductive spiral channel inserted is a special guide 4 to ensure firmness during implantation. The guide id removed after the probe-electrode has been completely set in. |

The contact head porous surface consisting of spherical particles of the titanium powder with the diameter from 100 to 200 µm, have the pore size in the range 80-90 µm. The porous surface enlarges the active area of contact with the myocardium and the capacity of the contact head approx. 3 times if compared with a smooth one which results in reduced energy losses on the electrode-myocardium boundary. The capsule round the contact head of the electrode up to 0,1 mm thick is formed within the first 2 weeks and after that is not really modified while thickening 3-4 times around the smooth head. The porous surface of grows in with the collagen fibers which prevents from thrombosis. The first batch of the probe-electrodes with the porous head was produced in 2006 at the Design bureau of medical electroequipment (Kamenets-Podolskiy, Ukraine) and is successfully applied in cardiologic clinics of the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
