Field of application:Electric machines commutators, automobile starters and generators, engines for an electrical transport, civil engineering and erection tools, household appliances (vacuum cleaner, mixers, coffee mill and etc.).

Technical and economical data of the technology and the material:
The commutator production from powder blanks has following advantages:

• Enables to refuse the use of special structural shapes;
• Has a high coefficient of the material utilization during the blank production (up to 90 %);
• Makes possible to decrease a specific quantity of metal of the commutator 1,2…1,5 times due to the change of commutator bar shape and due to the decrease of its mass; and to decrease a consumption rate of copper 2…3 times;
• Excludes the use of a manual labour during the assembly, can be easily automated.

Characteristics of the production:A copper powder blank has a ring shape with commutator bars on internal diameter. An active part diameter is in the range of 10 - 120 mm. A height-diameter relation is 0,5 - 2. Electrical and mechanical properties of a powder commutator display advantages to compare with copper rolled products.

An output mastery of developed products:Powder commutators of electric machines (starters and generators) are produced at the Molodechno Powder Metallurgy Plant and the pilot plant of Powder Metallurgy Institute.
